What is a domiciliary dentist?
A plain-English guide to domiciliary (home-visit) dentistry — what it is, who it helps and what it costs.
A domiciliary dentist is simply a dentist who treats you where you live, rather than at a clinic. “Domiciliary” means “at home”. A GDC-registered dentist and nurse bring a portable surgery to your home, care home or hospital bedside.
Who is it for?
It is designed for people who find getting to a clinic difficult — the elderly and housebound, disabled and mobility-impaired patients, people with dementia or severe anxiety, and hospital in-patients.
What can a domiciliary dentist do?
Check-ups, fillings, dentures (new, repairs and relines), extractions, hygiene and urgent pain relief. X-rays are arranged by referral where needed.
How much does it cost?
With Bedside Dental, home visits start from £350, always with a clear written quote first.
