Dental care in care homes
How on-site dental visits work for care homes and their residents — treatment, records and mouth-care support.
Good mouth care is a vital part of dignity and wellbeing in later life, yet getting care-home residents to a dental clinic is often difficult or impossible. On-site dental visits solve that: a GDC-registered dentist and nurse come to the home with a portable surgery and treat residents in familiar surroundings, supporting staff and families along the way.
What we provide for residents
- Check-ups and oral-cancer screening
- Denture work — new sets, repairs, relines and additions (and help when a denture goes missing)
- Fillings and extractions where they can be done safely on-site
- Hygiene, scale and polish and gum care
- Urgent pain relief
Support for your team
We work alongside care staff, not around them. That includes practical advice on daily mouth care for residents, and clear written care plans after every visit that fit with your records. Our clinicians are DBS-checked and our service is CQC-regulated, so visits sit comfortably within your own compliance expectations.
Residents living with dementia or frailty
Many residents are frail or living with dementia, so we take our time, work gently, and can treat in short steps at the calmest time of day. Where a resident may not be able to make a particular decision for themselves, we work carefully and lawfully, involving family and staff and acting in the resident’s best interests.
How visits are arranged
- Get in touch and tell us about your home and residents’ needs.
- We agree a visit and provide clear quotes — each resident’s treatment is quoted individually.
- A dentist and nurse attend on-site and treat residents in their own rooms or a suitable space.
- You receive written care plans and any onward referrals arranged.
Why regular dental visits matter in a care home
Untreated dental problems can quietly affect a resident’s comfort, nutrition and general health — a sore mouth or a loose denture can stop someone eating well or enjoying their food. Regular on-site check-ups catch problems early, keep dentures fitting and comfortable, and support the daily mouth care your team already provides. It is a simple, dignified part of good all-round care.
Common questions from care homes
Can you see several residents in one visit? Yes — we are happy to arrange visits that cover a number of residents in a session. Do families need to be involved? For consent and payment we liaise with whoever is appropriate, including family and, where needed, best-interest decision-makers. Do you provide records? Yes, a written care plan after every visit that fits alongside your own documentation.
What it costs
